Indiana native and Butler alumni Ed Carpenter has been very successful as an IndyCar driver and has been in the front row multiple times for the prestigious Indianapolis 500.  Last year he won the qualifying and this year is once again right back near the top coming in second.  He has still yet to win the Indy 500 and is hoping he will able to get the monkey off his back this year.

Should people be concerned about a rain delay this weekend?  Will we ever get this race in?

"Oh, were gonna get the race in Dan.  It's too early to even check the weather for this day.  Haha, I mean don't get me wrong I check about every hour but that's because it changes every hour so that's how you know  that they don't know yet if we will be good to go on Sunday."

When you start the race, when do you truly believe is the best time to start taking risks and taking a chance to really win the race?

"It's hard to be as patient as you used to be able to be in this race.  When i started my IndyCar career, it felt like the pace was a little slower and a little less intensity.  It all seems to happen quicker now.  As soon as you hit the first cautious or the first re-start, it all just feels a lot more agressive than it used to be.  I think its just a function of how many quality teams there are and how many quality drivers.  There isn't really time to relax anymore, you have to be fairly aggressive all day to not lose out on track position.  It's a long race and still 500 miles but you have to attack all day long.

Starting in the second position, Ed Carpenter is ready to get going this weekend and 1070 The Fan will surely keep you updated on the potential of a rain delay come Sunday.
