DD is joined by ESPN Colts Insider Mike Wells to talk about the start of Indianapolis Colts training camp and what he is expecting to see from the players early on.  He talks about when Andrew Luck will start running plays and when other veterans that are sitting out will begin to start getting more reps.  DD is live from the Indianapolis Colts training facility at Grand Park in Westfield.

What are we going to see out of Andrew Luck at this camp and what are your thoughts on how limited he will be?

“Well, I was a little surprised when Chris Ballard made that comment yesterday.  Because they took the overly cautious approach at OTAs and mini-camp.  Coach Frank Reich said if this was regular season that Luck would be ready to play.  Then you have six weeks off after mini-camp, they are still going to take a limited approach.  It surprised me a little, I thought Luck was going to be full-go.  But I am not a doctor, I’m not a trainer.  They know way more than you and I, as well as the outside world.  Surely, they don’t want anything to happen to him where he pushes it to hard.  I’m curious on what is classified on what is limited for Andrew Luck when he’s on the practice field.”

Besides Andrew Luck, what are you looking forward to seeing from training camp?

“There is way too much optimism for a key player to get injured but on the  football field I’m looking forward to seeing how this defense will do in year 2 under Matt Eberflus as the defensive coordinator.  Clearly, they surprised a lot of people.  Some people will say they overachieved.  They aren’t going to get away with barely beating the likes of Ryan Tannehill and Eli Manning when they are going to be facing some hall-of-fame quarterbacks this season.  The list is so long, so they are going to have be consistently a top-10 defense the entire season in order for this team to be able to potentially reach its goal.”
