Kenny Moore’s one-handed Odell Beckham-style interception off of Derek Carr this past Sunday earned him the honor of AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
And well deserved.
Name any highlight reel this week, Moore’s incredible interception has been on it.
To break down the potential interception of the year, Moore hopped on The Dan Dakich Show Wednesday afternoon. The Georgia native told DD that it’s not the first time he’s done something like this.
“Everybody was pretty dramatic about it so that got me excited,” Moore said. “It was really a team effort when you go into the whole emotion of the catch. I’ve caught a ball like that one or two times, but it’s really about how I train my mind. That’s how I want to go up and get a ball, it’s natural for me.”
Moore is turning into a steal for the Colts after he was claimed off waivers from the New England Patriots in 2017. And since that point, he has gelled with the Indianapolis locker room to a point of becoming a vocal leader.
It all starts with individually improving everyday.
“I’m strong minded and self motivated,” Moore added. “The coaches give me the game plan and I’m ready to go do it. I embrace my past and who I am, but I’m always seeking room for improvement. I love the coaching and constructive criticism. You can’t get too high or too low.
When listening to Moore speak, it’s hard to believe that he’s just 25-years-old. He talks like a 20-year veteran. Looking at the defensive core, veteran guys like Justin Houston and DeForest Buckner have instilled a true sense of belief and hard work with the younger players.
On many occasions, those are the types of defenses that win in January.
