The Mavericks beat Carroll 44-34 to win the State Championship.
“All championship teams face adversity along the way,” Coach Peter Osterman said. “However, for many of these Unified student-athletes, the daily challenges they face are much more daunting than the average high schooler will experience. But through inclusion and partnering with compassionate teammates, we were able to see their lights shine on the biggest stage. And in the end, they became champions together.”
He went on to say that of all the events that they put on or sponsor at McCutcheon, the unified games might be the most important.
