The Mavericks beat Shelbyville Boys Soccer and Homestead Football to advance to the finals of the Fall Tournament of Champions. In their actual season they won the State Championship over Carroll 44-34.
“All championship teams face adversity along the way,” Coach Peter Osterman said. “For many of these Unified student-athletes, the daily challenges they face are much more daunting than the average high schooler will experience. But through inclusion and partnering with compassionate teammates, we were able to see their lights shine on the biggest stage. And in the end, they became champions together.”
