There was fear heading into last week’s NFL Draft, particularly after GM Chris Ballard’s pre-draft comments, that Indy might not emphasize WR while in Las Vegas.

The nervousness might have reached another level when the team traded back in Round 2 prior to their first selection of the draft.

Nevertheless, when the Colts finally took center stage for the first time all weekend it was a much needed playmaker who had their name called.

Cincinnati Bearcats standout wide receiver Alec Pierce was the first name called by the Colts in the 2022 NFL Draft and crossed off a major need on the team’s offseason checklist.

On top of the selection of Pierce, as a whole it appears clear that the Colts filled every glaring need on the roster during the draft.

Whether or not every pick pans out will take time, but fans can breathe a sigh of relief seeing those voids taken care of.

In the case of Pierce, by all accounts the team got the weapon they wanted most and can now pair a reliable threat with Michael Pittman Jr.

Now it’s up to Matt Ryan to make the magic happen and turn these weapons into touchdown machines.

Monday on The Dan Dakich Show Alec Pierce stopped by to take us through what his draft process was like.

Pierce also talked on what he brings to the table and what he’s most looking forward to about playing for the Colts.

Check out Dan’s chat with Alec below and keep listening to The Dan Dakich Show, weekdays 12-3pm, on The Fan.
