“There was just no more room in my belly.”

Less than 24 hours after failing to complete the McDonald’s Challenge, Big Joe Staysniak reflected on his performance on Wednesday’s Fan Morning Show with Jeff & Big Joe.

So what is the McDonald’s Challenge? Many variations exist, but Joe attempted to consume:

  • 4 Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese
  • 20 Chicken McNuggets
  • 2 Large Fries
  • 4 Large Cokes (128 oz)

…in 90 minutes.

Jeff Rickard asked Joe if the combination of sodium and sugar led to him not being able to finish his meal, which consisted of 6,280 calories and 7,926mg of salt.

“The dangerous amounts of sodium that are included in everything you eat [at McDonald’s], it was scary,” Big Joe said. “I’ve never had a problem where, you know, when you’re eating your salivary glands kick in. Plenty of moisture there, no problem, whatever. 20 minutes into this thing, I had no moisture. So the salt from everything that I was eating I think really took that away.”

Were there any big takeaways?

“Yeah, it wasn’t really smart. But again, like the Mike Tyson versus Buster Douglas thing, I scoffed at the whole deal and I didn’t train. So you really need to have some training involved. My stomach wasn’t able to handle that capacity…It was the timing part of it. I’ve not trained anything endurance-wise.”

In case you missed the YouTube live stream:

Rickard brought up one of the most pressing questions: Was Joe able to keep it all down afterwards?

“It didn’t take much to ‘give it back’ as you say. My body was ready to do that,” Big Joe said.
