Fortune favors the Indianapolis Colts this weekend. At least because of the past.

In their all-time history, the Colts are 28-9 against the Houston Texans. And in more recent terms, the Blue and White have won five of the last seven matchups; Which includes the 21-7 playoff win in January of 2019.

For Texans play-by-play announcer Marc Vandermeer, the losses still sting down in the Lone Star State. He jumped on The Fan Morning Show on Friday to preview Sunday’s duel between the AFC South foes.

“The Colts are the ultimate Texans nemesis,” Vandermeer said. “I hate the Colts like poison in a sports rivalry sense. This is wonderful to have the Colts in town because they have been in some grinders over the last few years. It’s always an event. This is an epic matchup in the division. If these teams had the NFC East markets, they’d be writing books about it.”

Not only is Sunday’s game important for the Colts to keep pace in the division, it’s a chance for the Texans to deal some serious revenge. Deshaun Watson will not have his big threat wide receiver Will Fuller after he was suspended for PEDS, but the former Clemson Tiger is dangerous no matter who is around him.

Houston is now under the leadership of veteran head coach Romeo Crennel. Following Bill O’Brien’s firing, the Texans were not in a good spot. But they’ve now won three of their last four games. That includes demolishing the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

However, Vandermeer told Jeff Rickard, Kevin Bowen, and Big Joe that T.Y. Hilton visiting Texas is never a comfortable feeling. The Colts veteran wide receiver brought in his first touchdown last week.

“There’s always a worry about Hilton,” Vandermeer added. “He has forever been a thorn in their side. The threat of T.Y. is always out there if he’s on the field. And that’s something the Texans need to worry about, especially without (cornerback) Bradley Roby.”

With a win and a Tennessee Titans loss to the Cleveland Browns, the Colts can be right back to a tie for first place in the division. But before they even think about that, business needs to be taken care of in Houston.
