Madness isn’t supposed to ensue in Indy until the NCAA Tournament comes here in March.

But plans have shifted and the Indianapolis Colts quarterback search has jumped front and center into a wild start to February.

The entire fan base seemed to be all in on Matthew Stafford. (Thanks Rams).

Now with that plan in the dumpster, Chris Ballard is still looking for an answer. Could that solution already be in the Blue and White’s hands?

Tony Dungy thinks so.

The legendary Colts head coach and Super Bowl Champion was kind enough to spend some time with Jeff Rickard and Big Joe Staysniak on The Fan Morning Show this week. Dungy said there’s a guy in particular he’s very fond of; And that’s #7.

“I personally like Jacoby Brissett,” Dungy said. “I watched him win games in New England and Indianapolis. When he and everyone around him was healthy, the Colts played some pretty good ball. I wouldn’t be in a desperate situation right now. You need to look at who’s available and see what they can get done. You would love to see them get a younger quarterback to groom and maybe say let’s roll with Jacoby and be ready to move on.”

That move would probably give Frank Reich’s team their biggest sure thing. Everyone has seen what Brissett can do. Does he have anything more to offer than what he’s already shown? That’s to be determined.

But a decision like going back to him would also be viewed, especially by the fan base, as too safe. We’ve seen numerous times in the NFL that aggressiveness wins.

The Colts have come too far to take a step back with the defense they’ve assembled and the weapons that are ready to break out.
