The NBA Trade Deadline is fast approaching.  February 10 is a little over two weeks away.  How much different will the Indiana Pacers be by then? At 17-31, they better be plenty active.  They need more than a fresh coat of paint, they need to be torn down to the studs and rebuilt. The trade deadline can do wonders for them as long as they don’t overvalue their assets and scare off the market, something I’m worried they could be doing with an already injured Myles Turner.

On Tuesday’s edition of Kevin & Query, Alex Golden of the Setting The Pace podcast joined the show to discuss why he thinks the Pacers will be extremely active as the trade deadline approaches.

“If I’m [Pacers President]Kevin Pritchard, the trades I’m most likely looking for are trying to get as many young athletes as you can.” – Alex Golden

He mentioned that Domantas Sabonis, Chris Duarte and Isaiah Jackson are guys worth building around.  There are no untouchables on this team so if someone wows you with an offer for Duarte I say you at least have to consider it.  When it comes to a position to focus on at the deadline, Golden said the team is desperate for forwards.  As for how active he thinks the Pacers could be, his number was surprising.

“I think there are 5 or 6 guys who could get dealt.  Three to four will get moved.  The one big question mark will be Myles Turner and this injury.  It’ll be interesting to see what his value is.” – Alex Golden
