INDIANAPOLISThe Colts wrapped up their 2019 Draft by selecting Ole Miss interior offensive lineman Javon Patterson.

This pick came from the Colts trading away defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway for pick No. 246 overall.

Here are 3 thoughts on the Colts drafting Patterson:

1. Versatile Interior Player

Patterson (6-2 and 307 pound) was a 4-year starter in the SEC, playing all three interior spots at Ole Miss.

The Colts expect Patterson to get his first look at center, with Ryan Kelly and Evan Boehm the current depth chart look there.

A Combine invitee, Patterson is known to be a more powerful player and prides himself on his pre-snap identification abilities.

Patterson said the Colts showed him a lot of interest during the draft process.

2. Center/Guard Joins A Tackle

It took until Round 7 before the Colts dipped into the offensive line pool this draft.

They got both a tackle and an interior body.

While both Jackson Barton and Patterson will have to fight to just make the roster, they do walk into an offensive line room without a ton of young depth, firmly entrenched on the roster.

It was always thought the Colts would take two offensive linemen in this draft. It took a while, but they achieved that.

3. Hassan Ridgeway Is Gone

For a second straight year, the Colts traded a defensive lineman for a 7th round pick.

Defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway was moved to the Eagles for this 246th overall selection on Saturday evening.

Ridgeway, a 2016 fourth-round pick of Ryan Grigson, fell out of the rotation last season and logged just 65 snaps all year long.

In 2018, the Colts moved Henry Anderson for a 7th round pick that became linebacker Zaire Franklin.
