Has Peyton Manning Been Offered GM Jobs?

The Peter King Podcast launched today under the new NBC Sports/Football Morning In America home for King, and his first guest was none other than The Sheriff himself, Peyton Manning.

King and Manning discussed Manning's new show "Peyton's Places" that follows Peyton around his journey to explore the history of the NFL for the league's 100th season celebration and will debut later this month, what Manning's future holds, and most notably around here, whether or not Manning has been offered to run an NFL team.

"I've had talks with a few teams," Manning told King. "We never got into any type of negotiation, if you will. But I think a lot of teams - I think a couple of teams have expressed interest and had conversations to kind of see. I've kind of given them the same answer. I've listened and I've just said, 'Peter, that's a job...it's not a one foot, dip your toes into the water, job. It's all-in, all-encompassing.' I guess because I have that respect for the job and what it is, and what it takes, that's why I've kind of passed to this point. At some point, maybe I am ready to say,'Hey, I'm all-in.' But it's just not there yet.' At the same time, during this process, that's why I do try and stay as close to it and stay connected in different ways, whether it's going to different camps or going to practices."

Manning then mentioned that Tom Coughlin has asked him to come speak to the Jaguars quarterbacks, offensive coaches, and team.

That's something Colts fans have to hate to hear.

We know by now, as confirmed back in March by Jim Irsay himself at the NFL owner's meetings, that the Colts have been one of those teams that have expressed interest.

Dwight Freeney will be inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor in November. Maybe Peyton will be back in town then, but will the Prodigal Son ever return home full-time?
