INDIANAPOLIS – The latest Victor Oladipo injury update has the Pacers star possibly missing a chunk of the 2019-20 season.

Following Thursday’s NBA Draft, Kevin Pritchard shared this update on Oladipo’s right knee rehab.

“With Victor’s injury, he might be out a little bit,” the Pacers president said, unprompted, on Thursday night.

“I’m hopeful he is back in December, January, but to put a true timeline (out there) is not really fair.”

It’s the first time Pritchard has thrown out any sort of possible return date for Oladipo.

Earlier in the spring, Pritchard said around this time of the offseason, with free agency coming in less than 10 days, was when Indiana would have a clearer update on when Oladipo could get back on the court.

Oladipo first had surgery on Jan. 28 to repair a torn quad tendon in his right knee.

Following the Pacers’ season ending sweep by the Celtics, Pritchard said Oladipo was entering the physical therapy part of his rehab.

That's when Pritchard flew down to Miami to see where Oladipo was at in his progress.

“(Oladipo) has made it perfectly clear to me that he’s going to be back and a better player,” Pritchard said back in early May“When that is, I’m not sure. But it’s coming along very nicely. And he feels very good about it. In Victor style, he has promised that he will come back at 200-300 percent of what he was. It’s funny, when you talk to him like that, how do you not believe him? It’s just so contagious. I remember leaving that dinner, ‘Man, we are going to be really good next year.

“When is he back next year? I’m not sure yet. I think it’s a little too early to put a timeline on it.”

That timetable still is not etched in stone, but the reality of the situation is Oladipo could miss a good amount of games in the 2019-20 season.

If Oladipo is out until January, that’s around half of an 82-game regular season schedule.

We will see if this news on Oladipo impacts how attractive the Pacers are as a free agent destination in July, or how aggressive Pritchard feels he needs to be with his star possibly sidelined for the start of the upcoming season.
