Victor Oladipo Sets Return Date To Game Action

On Wednesday afternoon, Victor Oladipo shared a return date for him coming back to game action. When will that be for the Pacers star?

INDIANAPOLIS – Circle your calendars for Wednesday, January 29th, Pacers fans.

Victor Oladipo has set a return date to play again for the Indiana Pacers.

That is on Wednesday, the 29th of January, in a home matchup with the Chicago Bulls, Oladipo told The Stadium.

The date is not etched in stone, but it is the date Oladipo clearly has circled on his own calendar.

“That can change,” Oladipo said to The Stadium. “That might not change, who knows. But it’s definitely good to have something looking forward to especially after 12 months of wondering and hoping and not being sure if 12 months would be enough.”

If that date---which is three weeks out---is indeed the return of Oladipo, it will come 371 days after he ruptured the quad tendon in his right knee.

It would also come in the first game back from the Pacers finishing up a 5-game road trip, with the final game of that occurring the Sunday prior.

“To actually having something of a goal to look forward to is pretty astronomical for me in this process,” Oladipo shared on Wednesday. “I’m way stronger than I was before, especially mentally. I just feel like nothing can faze me. I’ve been through the worst, so my better days lie ahead.”

Such a return date would mean the following:

-Oladipo would miss the first 47 games of the season, with 35 left to go

-Oladipo would be available for 8 games (7 home games, with only 1 back-to-back) before the All-Star break on February 12th

-Oladipo and the Pacers would have 4 total back-to-backs to deal with to close out the year

-After January 29th, the Pacers have 10 games left against the top 5 teams in the East (they also play at the Lakers and at the Clippers down the stretch).

Currently, the Pacers are 23-14 and sitting in the 6th position of a jumbled top-end to the Eastern Conference.

Of course, an Oladipo return on Wednesday, January 29th, would mark the most anticipated game of the 2019-20 season.

“It’s going to be a very, very emotional night,” Oladipo says. “I think more so for everybody that supported me that’s coming to watch, than me. I’m just going to go out there and play basketball, what I’ve been playing since I was 4 years old, what I’ve been wanting to do since I was 4 years old. Granted, it’s been a minute since I’ve played in an NBA game, but at the end of the day, after I get my feet wet, go up and down the floor, maybe I’ll have to foul somebody, just to get that out of my system, too, (laughs), once that’s all said and done and the game just starts flowing, then I’ll just be playing basketball again. For everyone else, I know it’s going to be pretty emotional.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be very historic, very memorable.”
