INDIANAPOLIS – When the 2018-19 NBA schedule came out for the Pacers, fans circled the date ‘January 28’ because the Golden State Warriors were visiting Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Monday for the Pacers faithful was much more than just having the defending World Champions playing in Indiana.

The morning saw Victor Oladipo undergo surgery to repair the ruptured quad tendon in his right knee.

The Pacers called the surgery, which occurred in Miami, ‘successful.’ There’s no set timetable for Oladipo’s return.

“He’s doing good,” Nate McMillan said of his conversations with Oladipo post-surgery. “He said everything went great.”

On Monday night, the Pacers honored Oladipo by having a ‘gold out’ with t-shirts on every seat inside The Fieldhouse saying ‘Together 4 Vic’ as Indiana took on the Golden State.

With the Oladipo injury news, the Pacers face some critical questions for their immediate future, and even when looking ahead to the 2019-20 season.

Oladipo’s rehab will keep him on crutches for the next few months, with the Pacers not knowing yet whether or not if he will travel to the remaining road games.

“We haven’t really thought about discussing that,” McMillan said of Oladipo possibly traveling to road games at some point this season.

“I don’t even think he’ll be in Indiana for a while. I don’t see him traveling with the team anytime soon. He’ll be on crutches for a couple of months.”
