The quarterback "controversy" is offically over at Notre Dame after it was reported on Tuesday that Brandon Wimbush will be transferring to UCF for his final season.

Wimbush started all of 2017 for the Irish but was replaced by Ian Book in last year's Citrus Bowl win over LSU. Then in 2018, Wimbush began the season as the starter, started the first three games, then was benched in favor of Ian Book after Week 3.

He became the backup the rest of the season except for Notre Dame's senior night against Florida State where he started in place of the injured Ian Book.

That night Wimbush threw three touchdowns and rushed for 68 yards in what would be his final goodbye to Notre Dame Stadium leading the Irish to a convincing 42-13 win over the Seminoles.

Since he is a grad transfer, he will be eligible to play in 2019.
