We’ve heard for a while about the potential of a Carson Wentz and Zach Ertz package deal from the Philadelphia Eagles.

That hasn’t really worked out as planned.

Wentz is now a soon-to-be native of the state of Indiana, and Ertz is still in the City of Brotherly Love. But could that change on a dime?

Austin Gayle from Pro Football Focus thinks so. Gayle called into an extremely packed day on The Ride with JMV and said it may just be a matter of time until Ertz is on his way out of Philly.

“I am willing to bet that Zach Ertz has played his last down in Philadelphia,” Gayle said. “I don’t think Ertz will be in the equation now that Wentz is on his way out. I think he’s either going to be cut or traded; And he could be an option for teams looking to upgrade at tight end.”

The Indianapolis Colts have entered the chat.

Ertz is now 30-years-old and only two years removed from a career best receiving season with 1163 yards in 2018.

On the flip side of the coin though, Ertz had just 335 receiving yards and one touchdown in 11 games this past season. But it’s not like anything in Philly was going so hot in 2020.

What do you think? Would Ertz be an upgrade from Jack Doyle, Trey Burton, and Mo Alie-Cox?

As a trio, Doyle, Burton, and Alie-Cox combined for 895 receiving yards last year.
