We’re proud of Kamar Baldwin for multiple reasons here at The Fan.

  1. He’s had an outstanding year representing Butler.
  2. He spent last summer working for our shows here at The Fan.

The Butler star and former intern at The Fan joined JMV to talk about his stellar season and preview the Big East tournament in New York City. He’s made a habit out of hitting the biggest shots in the biggest games in his time at Butler, especially this year.

Why has he had so much success with those moments?

“Just make the right play. Whatever that is to give Butler the best chance to win,” Baldwin told JMV.

Sound about right for Kamar. Quiet, humble, and just ready to get the job done for his team.

That’s what he did for us in the summer, too.

As for the Bulldogs, how are they feeling heading into the conference tournament?

“We’re really focused right now. Being in New York, it’s a great city. Guys are getting themselves mentally focused and we just got done having a good practice, so we feel good going in.”

Butler plays Thursday in the Big East quarterfinals against the 4-seed Providence. If they win that contest they’ll advance to the semifinals tomorrow night at 6:30 and play the winner of the St. John’s-Creighton matchup.

The plan for Baldwin and the Dawgs is simple.

“We’re just going to come in and play our style of basketball just like we’ve done all year. But we’re going to play together, play for each other, and we’ll let the rest take care of itself.”
