After a strong 2020 season, the Colts defense has been a consistent problem this season, especially against top tier QB’s. Kevin Bowen detailed some of the stats that QBs have put up against the Colts since Defensive Coordinator Matt Eberflus took the reigns in 2018.
On his show Tuesday, JMV questioned whether or not the Colts defensive scheme is one you can win with at the highest levels:
“They got some stops, but again, this defense and what they do, what Eberflus does with what he has at his disposal, especially in the back end and up front, it’s not conducive to last. Most of the time this year they have been bad. You look at the numbers and the numbers will dictate that to you immediately.”

Passing Yards Allowed per game – 15th in NFL 243.6 yds/game
Rushing Yards Allowed per game – 15th in NFL 108.8 yds/game
Points per game allowed – 14th in NFL 22.9 pts/game
If the Colts want to turn things around in the 2nd half of the season to compete for a Wildcard spot, they may need to find an answer defensively to help jump start this team.
