Nate McMillan Expects Victor Oladipo To Play In Pacers Scrimmages

INDIANAPOLISThe Pacers expect Victor Oladipo to play in at least a couple of games in Orlando.

Although, for now, these are just scrimmages.

Nate McMillan said on Monday that he expects Oladipo to play in the scrimmages that Indiana will have over the next week.

“I do,” McMillan said when asked specifically about Oladipo playing in the scrimmages.

“He’s going through the practices and he’s looking good. Our first scrimmage is on Thursday and we’ll see how our guys feel, and we’ll get them minutes accordingly. Right now, there’s no restrictions on anyone (besides Domantas Sabonis). Other than that, I expect everybody to be ready to go.”

McMillan added that, due to other injuries on the roster, Oladipo has fluctuated his 5-on-5 time with all three of the team’s units in practice.

Last week, Oladipo sounded like a guy who was now planning to try and play in the Orlando re-start, after he had previously ruled himself out.

Indiana’s first of three scrimmages will take place this Thursday afternoon against Portland.

Both Myles Turner (undisclosed injury) and Domantas Sabonis (plantar fasciitis) missed Monday’s practice. McMillan said Sabonis will not play in the Pacers first scrimmage, if not all three scrimmages, and has not put weight on his injured leg for the past few days.

“We are trying to give this some time to calm down,” McMillan said of the foot injury to Sabonis.

Fellow big men JaKarr Sampson and Goga Bitadze have also sat out practice time in Orlando with various injuries.

The first regular season game for Indiana is a week from Saturday (August 1st), versus Philadelphia.
