Indianapolis – Chris Ballard met with the media for over an hour Thursday to discuss the 2021 Colts. Taking over 60 questions from media members Ballard talked about a lot of things covering Wentz’s play down the stretch, the offensive line, if the WR core is good enough, and pass rush issues.

On his show later that afternoon JMV had a couple takeaways on a couple topics that he has been hammering for over a year about.

On moving Quenton Nelson from Left Guard to Left Tackle:

“The one thing that he really got hardcore about was that. I know it sounds silly but does it sound any less silly than paying a left guard with the way this team looks and how they finished the season 17-20 million dollars per year? Without a left tackle? Does that sound any more silly? Future Hall of Fame Left Guard or not. At the very least a lot of you understand the thought process behind it.”

JMV was intrigued by Ballard’s comments and what he did not say about the future of the QB position and Carson Wentz:

“This is one adjustment that it seems like they won’t mind to make if they have to. He said ‘we’re going to evaluate everything, nothing is set in stone’. I’m not sure if that matches up what Jim Irsay said a couple days ago about changes but it seems like to me what he said today about Carson Wentz is that he has flaws, he has nice moments, and to me it seems like they are going to look around…They’ve been chasing this stinking carrot forever. It’s always a little band aid and apparently that’s what they’re going to do again at Left Tackle too.”
