Every Colts position group has seemingly disappointed to start the 2022 season. But what group has underwhelmed the most? GM Chris Ballard has preached that winning teams are built their the offensive and defensive lines.
The Colts are #1 in the NFL for money spent on the Offensive Line. LG Quenton Nelson signed a 4 year/$80 million extension making him the richest guard in NFL history, Center Ryan Kelly has the 5th highest cap hit for Centers, and RT Braden Smith holds the title of highest cap hit by a Right Tackle for 2022.
QB Matt Ryan has not felt very protected by the highest paid OL in the league. Ryan is 5th in the NFL with 7 sacks taken so far and 3rd in times knocked down. Even basic stunts by opposing defensive lines has been an issue with this group.
Indy has so many issues on their OL right now
But I remain steadfast to believing the plan of execution is the biggest issue… pic.twitter.com/05FZ1JUMKN

The coaching staff recognizes the basic mistakes by the line, but will they be able to fix it?
Colts OC Marcus Brady on his offensive line: “We struggled quite a bit with the twist game … we gotta be better up front.”
All five lineman were culpable Sunday — Jags’ twists and stunts routinely had the Colts fooled.
