Mock Draft 1.0’s are HOT right now. Every major NFL outlet is releasing their first editions of the first round flying out even thought the 2018 season is still going on, AND they’ll probably reach Mock Draft 367.0 by the time April swings around.

But that won’t stop us, now until then, from updating the popular names falling at, or near, 26. NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah released his on Friday, and he has Mississipi State safety Johnathan Abram becoming the newest member of the Colts.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Abram is one of my favorite players in the draft. He fits what the Colts are building on defense.”

While we appreciate his brevity, that didn’t tell us much (anything). So I decided to do a little digging myself.

Abram is a 6’0, 215 pound senior and has bounced around during his college career. He began at Georgia then spent a year in Junior College in 2016, then finally landed at Mississippi State the last two seasons.

He collected 96 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions at MSU. He’s also been heralded as “the hardest hitter in the SEC” according to this fan video on youtube (FWIW).

The Draft Network did a more in-depth scouting report on Abram. Here’s some highlights:

BEST TRAIT – Physicality

WORST TRAIT – Playing Under Control

RED FLAGS – None

Sounds to me like a possible replacement for Clayton Geathers?

Again, in case you forgot, it’s January 18 and the Conference Championships are played this Sunday, so we’ve got time.

But you can’t NOT check out the Mock Drafts once your team is knocked out.

Stay tuned.
