INDIANAPOLIS – Here’s our latest ‘hits and misses’ piece on 1075TheFan.com highlighting the good and bad from the previous game.

The Colts (9-7) played arguably their worst game in months on Sunday, dropping a 23-20 contest to the Raiders (9-7).

What was the good and bad from the Colts falling to 4-5 this season at home?

Hits

-Darius Leonard’s Playmaking: Yes, Darius Leonard will be lamenting the missed sack he had on the game-deciding play by Derek Carr and Hunter Renfrow. But Leonard still made a couple of huge plays in this one. He had a key strip of Marcus Mariota late in the first half that forced a Raiders field goal. And he had an interception of Carr to set up the offense with good field position (which the offense could not convert). It was Leonard once again doing what he does best—finding the football. It’s been a special season in that area for No. 53.

-Season Accomplishments For Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman: The second seasons of Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman added some unique milestones on Sunday. Taylor’s 108 rushing yards gave him a franchise record for a single-season (1,734) passing Edgerrin James (1,709). He became the youngest player in NFL history, under the age of 23, to eclipse 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns in a single season. Pittman passed the 1,000-yard mark and joined T.Y. Hilton as the only Colts player to pass 1,000 yards in his second season. That’s pretty impressive considering the receivers this franchise has produced.

Misses

-Carson Wentz/Passing Offense: No matter how you slice it, Wentz and the Colts passing offense was terrible on Sunday. The inability to find some consistency in the production department finally caught up to that part of the game. Wentz missed several open receivers and could not take advantage when the Raiders brought pressure. From a pass catching standpoint, the Colts still lack some dynamic play there. This remains the biggest offensive question for the Colts.

-Kenny Moore: I’m not sure if I’ve ever put Moore in the ‘miss’ category. But he’s here after Hunter Renfrow continually beat Moore in man coverage on Sunday. Renfrow is a very good slot receiver but he looked like the Pro Bowler on Sunday, and not Moore. Again, it’s rare to see this level of play from Moore but it was a huge 1-on-1 matchup that the Raiders won handily.

-Crisp Discipline: Typically, it’s the Colts dominating in the discipline category. They didn’t ‘lose’ it on Sunday, but had some issues when it came to costly penalties and special teams problems leading to changes in field position. Whenever Rigoberto Sanchez is making two tackles in a game, it’s not good for the coverage unit. For a team that often makes the early statement in a game, getting down 10 points with a playoff berth at stake was startling.
