INDIANAPOLIS – After playing the easiest schedule in the NFL in 2020, the Colts look to have a pretty favorable slate again in 2021.
Based off this year’s records, the Colts have the 4th easiest schedule in ’21, as they are scheduled to play the AFC East and NFC West.
It remains to be seen if the 2021 season will indeed have a 17th game for all NFL teams. That is something the league still needs to finalize.
For now, here are the teams the Colts will play in 2021 (dates and times are typically announced in the spring):
Home Games
-Texans (4-12): Um, will Deshaun Watson be the quarterback in Houston come the fall of 2021? That seems like a ludicrous question, but you never know with the Texans this year.
-Jaguars (1-15): This should be the Trevor Lawrence game in Indianapolis. The Colts hosted fellow No. 1 pick Joe Burrow at Lucas Oil Stadium this past year.
-Titans (11-5): A home loss to the Titans back in late November, with the Colts having several COVID-19 issues, ultimately cost Indianapolis a chance at winning the AFC South.
-Raiders (8-8): This marks the 4th straight year that the Colts will play the Raiders, with both teams finishing 2nd in their respective divisions this past season.
-Patriots (7-9): Ah, yes. For the first time since 2018, the Colts will face Bill Belichick and the Patriots, and for the first time in Indy since 2015. The Colts have lost 7 straight to the Patriots with their last win coming in 2009.
-Jets (2-14): Is this going to be Justin Fields return to Lucas Oil Stadium? The Jets have interviewed Matt Eberflus for their head coaching position.
-Rams (10-6): Hello, Aaron Donald. The Colts will see one of the game’s best defensive players of all-time next season.
-Seahawks (12-4): Back in 2013, a Russell Wilson/Andrew Luck matchup turned into a great back and forth game. The Seahawks, and Wilson, will return to Indy this fall.
Road Games
-Texans (4-12): For the first time in a long time, the Colts will be facing the Texans without Bill O’Brien and/or Romeo Crennel.
-Jaguars (1-15): Like the Texans, the Jaguars are also looking for a new head coach in 2021.
-Titans (11-5): This matchup was the lone primetime game that the Colts had in 2020, with a Thursday nightery in Nashville, one that Frank Reich’s team ran away with, winning 34-17.
-Cardinals (8-8): This will be the first time that the Colts have faced the dynamic Kyler Murray, and they’ll also see DeAndre Hopkins again.
-Ravens (11-5): Like the Raiders, the Colts will see the Ravens in 2021 because both teams finished 2nd in their respective divisions.
-Bills (13-3): It’ll be another trip back to western New York for the Colts this fall. The obvious storylines in this one will draw some extra attention.
-Dolphins (10-6): Could this be the Colts seeing Tua Tagovailoa, and maybe even Devonta Smith in Miami?
-49ers (6-10): The Colts will face one of the better divisions in football next season in the NFC West. Many expect a bounce back season from DeForest Buckner’s former team, as he heads back to the Bay Area.
