INDIANAPOLIS – The Pacers have taken care of their most important free agent of the 2020 offseason.
Playing for 7 teams in his NBA career has taken Justin Holiday a lot of places, but he’s going to call Indiana home for another season.
Holiday, 31, has re-signed with the Pacers on a 3-year deal reportedly for $18.8 million. This is the first multi/year deal of his entire NBA career.
After signing with the Pacers late in the 2019 offseason (July 31st)—on a 1-year, $4.7 million deal—Holiday proved to be a great find.
He played 25 minutes per game off the bench, scoring 8.3 points per game, while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and a career-high 40.5 percent from behind the arc. Holiday was the only Pacers player to play in every game last season.
With the Pacers needing to experiment a bit with lineups late this past season, it was Holiday actually sliding into the starting group. Holiday started two postseason games and his perimeter shooting was one of the few playoff bright spots.
Jeremy Lamb’s season-ending injury back in February led to Holiday taking on an even bigger role, than just a member of the second unit.
Holiday was the only unrestricted free agent of the Pacers rotation from last season.
