Kevin Pritchard really went and did it. It’s happening.

Rick Carlisle is coming ‘Back Home Again in Indiana’ to coach the Indiana Pacers. The organization needed a spark, and the Blue and Gold got their guy (again).

The Dallas Mavericks and Carlisle split up early last week after more than a decade together. And clearly Pritchard and the Simon Family went to work.

When it was announced yesterday that the Boston Celtics were bringing aboard Ime Udoka as their new bench boss, that gave fans around here maybe some indication that Pritchard was going to make a big splash.

Carlisle, who coached Indiana from 2003-2007, was 181-147 with the club. He was also a top assistant under Larry Bird for three years.

The thing about Carlisle coming back is this should totally be viewed as a win not only for the Pacers organization, but also an inkling that the core that Indiana has is strong.

Carlisle had multiple years left on his deal in Dallas, he’s now 61-years-old, and he could have gone anywhere he wanted. On Indiana Sports Talk last weekend, Greg Rakestraw made the comment that Carlisle’s wife was once an employee of Riley Children’s Hospital.

There’s some deep love for the 317 there. The Pacers just may have turned the ship around.
