INDIANAPOLIS – Those Pro Bowl snubs for DT-DeForest Buckner and S-George Odum should not sting as much after Friday’s news.

Buckner and Odum were named 1st Team AP All-Pros on Friday, joining fellow first-teamers LG-Quenton Nelson and LB-Darius Leonard. The four 1st Team All-Pros is the most for the Colts since 2005.

In total, the Colts had 6 All-Pros, with C-Ryan Kelly and LS-Luke Rhodes garnering 2nd Team honors.

The Colts and Packers had the most All-Pros in the league with 6.

Colts 1st Team All-Pros

-Buckner was an obvious choice, particularly after his dominant final month of the season. After being snubbed from the Pro Bowl in mid-December, Buckner finished with a flurry, piling up 9.5 sacks, 10.0 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles in his 15-game season. Buckner found himself ranked in the top-5 of many defensive tackle categories. This is Buckner’s second All-Pro selection (2nd team in 2019).

-Nelson continues to be on a path towards Canton, as absurd as that might sound for a player who just completed his third NFL season. But when you are a 1st Team All-Pro in three straight seasons, you deserve such a title. Nelson is the NFL’s first offensive lineman to be named AP 1st Team All-Pro in his first three seasons since the 1970 merger (7th ever player in the NFL).

-Leonard did not have as eye-popping of a season as his first two years in the league, but still deserved some All-Pro recognition. Leonard had 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, 7 passes defensed and 3 forced turnovers in 14 games this season. In his three NFL seasons, Leonard has made All-Pro all three years (1st Team in 2018 and 2020, 2nd Team in 2019).

-Odum should have been a Pro Bowler, but got snubbed there. Odum finished the season with an NFL-best 20 special teams tackles. No other player had more than 16 tackles this season.

Colts 2nd Team All-Pros

-Kelly earned his first All-Pro nod this season. Kelly started 15 games this season and led the pass protection unit up front, with the Colts allowing the second-fewest sacks (21.0) in the league.

-Rhodes benefits from the league putting long snapper on the All-Pro teams. Rhodes, a former NFL linebacker, is known for his coverage ability and did have 3 special teams tackles this season. He was steady as normal in snapping on punts and field goals/extra points.
