The day most all Cincinnati Reds fans have been dreading is here.

Marty Brennaman announced on Twitter he'll be retiring following the 2019 MLB season.

I can't really comment too much besides applaud the longevity and greatness it takes to broadcast professional sports for 46 years because I'm a Cubs fan, so I haven't spent my entire life listening to him like a lot of folks around here.

But it's always a sad day when someone who has affected so many lives just through being the voice they listen to on the radio to cheer on their favorite team decides to hang it up.

Lance McCalister summed it up pretty well.

That's probably true today for a lot of people around the Midwest. Even the prominent voice now in college football (and a diehard Reds fan) chimed in.

This season should be a fun one for the ol' Redlegs. A little bit of a brighter future seems to be on the horizon, and at the very least they get one last summer with their friend Marty.

Congrats on a legendary career.
