The voice of the Hoosiers made his weekly appearance on The Dan Dakich Show on Monday to discuss the latest in the world of Indiana basketball.

Dan and Fisch talked about Indiana’s play as of late, their tournament chances, Devonte Green’s streakiness, and this week’s Big Ten tournament. How does Fisch think the Hoosiers have looked after Saturday’s loss to Wisconsin?

“They’re playing hard. They’re playing with energy. They give effort every single game. They haven’t had one of those games like Michigan since that particular contest. In my opinion if you look at what Indiana is doing at this point of the season, they are playing the way you want them to play. They have to the tools to make a run I think in the Big Ten tournament and maybe even into the NCAA tournament,” Fischer told Dan.

“I just think they’re a good basketball team. I’m not going to say they’re a great basketball team, but they’re a good basketball team, and good basketball teams can get hot. If they get hot, you never know.”

Indiana is the 11 seed in the tournament that begins in Indianapolis on Wednesday. They play that same night against the 14th-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers. From there it will be a long, tough run.

But it’s one that Fischer believes they can make – at least for a while.

“There’s no question. They could win two games quickly in the Big Ten. They could get to the third part of the Big Ten tournament, but I also think if they get to that third part – that’s the third day – they’re playing a team that has fresh legs and you don’t. Now, I’ve seen other teams battle through that and even get to Sunday before they get knocked out, but it’s really hard to get past that third ballgame if they played the first two.”

It all gets underway starting Wednesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
