The Colts GM made his annual NFL Combine visit with JMV this week.

They talked Anthony Castonzo, Jacoby Brissett, the future of the Colts quarterback position, and even Adam Vinatieri. It’s been talked about since the day the Colts cleared out their locker that the most important item of the offseason is whether or not Anthony Castonzo would retire or decide to come back.

Chris Ballard broke some good news on that on Tuesday, but when exactly did he know?

“It was 10 days or two weeks ago Anthony informed us ‘hey look I want to play’ which of course we were excited about,” Ballard told JMV.

“It allows you to get back a starting left tackle who has been a really good player in this league for a long time, and I think he’s really starting to come into his own.”

Now the attention for everyone else turns to the future of the quarterback position.

The Colts have been rumored to be interested in free agents Philip Rivers, Teddy Bridgewater, and even Tom Brady. There is plenty of intriguing quarterback talent coming out in this year’s draft as well, but obviously the Colts still have Jacoby Brissett.

So, what do they do?

“Look I mean we signed him to a two year deal. We’re comfortable with Jacoby. It’s no different than any spot. I mean, any spot we’re going to go and if we find a player we like and is going to help us win then we’re going to go after that spot,” Ballard said.

Pretty typical trained politician answer there.

You know what they always say – if you’re comfortable, you’re coasting.

But Ballard seems to believe more of that in Jacoby Brissett.

“Do I think we can win with Jacoby Brissett? Absolutely I do.”

A lot of questions that will be answered by April.
