MADISON, Wisc. — There was no telling what to expect from this game as the #12 Indiana Hoosiers came to Madison for a date with the #16 Wisconsin Badgers Saturday afternoon.

The result: a 14-6 grinder of a win for the Hoosiers, their first win over Wisconsin in 10 years.

In spite of being ranked ahead of the Badgers in the College Football Playoff rankings, Indiana was an 11-point underdog heading into the contest. Likely, because the Hoosiers were coming into the game down their starting quarterback Michael Penix, Jr.

Penix tore his ACL in a win over Maryland a week ago. The starting quarterback duties would fall to the senior transfer from Utah, Jack Tuttle, against Wisconsin.

Tuttle did not disappoint. Though he would only throw for 130 yards and two touchdowns, he went the whole game without an interception.

It was the defense that would be the saving grace for Indiana. They forced a Badgers offense, which eventually outgained the Hoosiers 342 yards on offense to Indiana’s 217 yards, to punt twice in the first half, along with recovering a fumble.

The Badgers only scored a field goal in the first half. The same happened in the second half as Tuttle again engineered a touchdown scoring drive to open the second half.

A lone Badger field goal in the second half and a stellar defensive performance for IU, which included an interception of Badger QB Graham Mertz by Jamar Johnson, secured the 14-6 win for the Hoosiers.

Indiana remains second in the East division of the Big Ten standings behind 5-0 Ohio State. They will close out the regular season this weekend in the Old Oaken Bucket game against the Purdue Boilermakers at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
