Hoosiers Stun #4 Hawkeyes in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa. — The Indiana Hoosiers knocked off #4 Iowa on the road Thursday night 81-69.

Four Hoosier players scored in double figures with sophomore Center Grove-native Trace Jackson-Davis scoring 23 points to lead the way. Lafayette-native Rob Phinisee added 18 points of his own.

The win for Indiana has rejuvenated the Hoosiers after their demoralizing loss at home to in-state rival Purdue a week ago.

The Hawkeyes struggled shooting the ball, while the Hoosier flourished shooting a staggering 49-percent from the field.

“Sometimes a team like that shoots it so well doesn’t have it,” said head coach Archie Miller of Iowa’s shooting. “I’d like to think our defense played a role in our confidence.”

The Hoosiers forced 12 turnovers and held the Hawkeyes sharp-shooters to just 5-23 shooting from behind the three-point arc. Jordan Bohannon of the Hawkeyes was 0-8 in that regard.

“I’m happy for our team, not because we won but because, but because of how we got back to business and started to work like a team that believes in what they do,” Miller added. “Bottom line is it can’t be a one hit wonder.”

The Hoosiers move to 9-and-6 on the year and even 4-and-4 in Big Ten play. They return to Assembly Hall this Sunday to face Rutgers. Indiana sits eighth in the Big Ten regular-season standings.
