INDIANAPOLIS – We are a month and a half away from NFL free agency beginning.

Over the next few weeks, you will start to see some teams take care of unrestricted free agents that they want to bring back.

For the Colts, they have 12 unrestricted free agents, with not a lot of guarantees on who to definitely bring back.

Eric Ebron Free Agent Watch

It’s probably safe to cross Ebron’s name off the list of guys that might return in 2020.

Following the end of the 2019 season, Chris Ballard had this to say about Ebron:

“We’ll probably move on.”

Alright.

With Ebron and the Colts likely going their separate ways this offseason, it still opens up a hole in Frank Reich’s offense.

Having a diverse skillset among the tight ends is key, and that’s something the Colts will want to complement, with Jack Doyle already signed for the next three years.

The Colts do need to still find more of that vertical receiving tight end threat, which is something Ebron brought to this offense.

While the inconsistency of Ebron has contributed to him not coming back, he still commanded attention in the passing game, particularly in the red zone.

Such a presence was missed in the back half of the 2019 season.

That’s something the Colts should look to add, with Doyle and Mo Allie-Cox back in 2020.
