INDIANAPOLIS – We are a month and a half away from NFL free agency beginning.

Over the next few weeks, you will start to see some teams take care of unrestricted free agents that they want to bring back.

For the Colts, they have 12 unrestricted free agents, with not a lot of guarantees on who to definitely bring back.

Dontrelle Inman Free Agent Watch

Wide receiver is most certainly a major need for the Colts in 2020.

It’s that way in the immediacy of this fall, and also when looking ahead to the next few years, with T.Y. Hilton battling injuries and turning 30 years old last November.

But it’s hard to see a very compelling reason to bring Dontrelle Inman back.

For one, Inman didn’t want to return to the Colts last spring, when he had much more leverage after a strong close to the 2018 season in Indianapolis. The Colts offered Inman early last offseason, but the veteran wideout decided to test the market instead (the Colts later pulled Inman’s offer once they drafted Parris Campbell).

Eventually, a trio of injuries at the wide receiver position led Inman to re-join the Colts for the last 3 games of the year. Inman had 4 grabs for 49 yards in those 3 games.

With Inman turning 31 years last week, is there really a need for such a player who doesn’t give you a special team presence?

For both parties, this just doesn’t seem like an ideal fit, after some tough negotiations last spring.
