INDIANAPOLIS – We are one and a half months away from NFL free agency beginning.

Over the next few weeks, you will start to see some teams take care of unrestricted free agents that they want to bring back.

For the Colts, they have 12 unrestricted free agents, with not a lot of guarantees on who to definitely bring back.

Honestly, Le’Raven Clark is probably more known for being the guy Kansas City was first scouting when they fell in love with Patrick Mahomes back in 2015.

But Clark is still on the Colts roster and will be a free agent in 2020.

When a guy is a healthy scratch in 13 of 16 games, and doesn’t get on the field in the other 3 games he actually dressed for, seeing such a player earn a new contract is typically beyond unlikely.

Clark has a case to return though.

And a possible retirement from Anthony Castonzo would really strengthen Clark’s case to come back for a 5th year with the Colts.

Why?

He’s the only player on the roster who has started at left tackle before in the NFL, with 12 career starts.

Yet, as a third-round pick in 2016, Clark has never panned out to being a full-time starter.

But his role in 2019 wasn’t needed with Castonzo taking every snap at left tackle, and Clark not able to provide versatility as a backup (compared to Joe Haeg and Josh Andrews).

Bringing Clark back would simply be to give the Colts a body to compete at left tackle. That’s it.

You have to make sure there’s depth at one of the most important positions in football, even if Clark never got his jersey dirty in 2019.
